MAYC’s work study program is designed to help high school students establish a work history while preparing them for a full-time job before completing high school. Individuals are selected to participate in the program and placed with local businesses. The students experience on site job training, and MAYC pays the wages of the youth for the time worked. Many who are part of this program may not be ready or interested in college after graduation. All youth participate in a classroom component receiving specific information about expectations in a job environment, training materials, interviewing information, and specific guidelines for the job they hold. This is the first job for many who participate, and it helps them establish a good work history before graduating high school.
