The mission of MAYC is to develop, support and encourage youth in the community for lifelong success and this is only possible with the help and support of the community. MAYC has been around for 27 years because of the amazing community support!
We have multiple volunteer opportunities – each with varying levels of responsibility and commitment. We welcome community members to explore our opportunities and help wherever they are able. If you are unable to volunteer time, please consider a monetary donation to MAYC. Volunteers working with youth will require a background check.
For more information – or to get started – please contact us at office@mahometyouth.org or call 217-586-6323.
Drop off your aluminum cans at MAYC for recycling. The can recycling dumpster is located in the MAYC parking lot at 700 W. Main Street in Mahomet.
Do you have a truck or trailer? Help out MAYC by dropping off our aluminum recycling at Max’s in Urbana.
As a Youth Program Volunteer you will work directly with youth during our annual programs. This can include providing a guided activity like a science project, craft or game. It can also be in a supportive role helping assist MAYC staff in daily programs.
Committee Volunteers help us with work that ensures our facilities are safe and that our two fundraisers – MAYC Auction and MAYC Half Marathon – are successful.
This is a paid opportunity.
Have a talent to share? Teach a B.L.A.S.T class! This is an after school enrichment program through the Mahomet-Seymour School district. It offers interactive and engaging program. MAYC supports this program by providing financial scholarships to eligible families.
There are generally four sessions of enrichment classes each school year. Classes meet two days a week – Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday – from 2:40 – 3:40pm (MPE) or 2:50 – 3:50pm (Lincoln Trail). You can teach one sessions or multiple sessions – it’s a flexible opportunity based on your availability.
If you are interested in learning more, please contact Derek Halfar at dhalfar@ms.k12.il.us.
The MAYC Board of Directors helps guide us in our mission, continued growth and sustainability. 1, 2, and 3 year terms available.
Our clubhouse is in need of a structure to house our garbage. If you’re handy with construction, please consider helping us with this project.
